Funding For Plastics Innovation Projects
Apply for a share of up to £4 million to develop new solutions to reduce plastic waste
Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, will invest up to £4 million in innovation projects to reduce the harm that plastics do to our environment and increase productivity and growth of the UK economy.
The ‘Plastics innovation: towards zero waste’ competition aims to support innovative activities that result in less persistent plastic waste in our environment. For example, this could include:
- developing new polymer materials
- new product designs
- new recycling processes
- increasing the value of recycled polymer
- behaviour focussed innovation to reduce plastic waste
Projects should aim to reduce plastic waste going to landfill or the wider environment.
To be eligible for funding, you must:
- be UK-based
- carry out your project work in the UK
- intend to exploit the results from or in the UK
SMEs can carry out the project on their own or they can collaborate with others. A business or research and technology organisation must lead the project. Projects with costs:
- under £100,000 can be single or collaborative but must be led by an SME
- £100,000 or more must be collaborative and involve an SME
Innovate UK are looking to fund a portfolio of projects, across a variety of technologies, markets and technological maturities. These may include feasibility studies, industrial research projects or experimental development projects.
The competition opens on Monday 18 June and closes on Wednesday 8 August 2018.
