Can you describe your business?
We are both qualified dentists who have been working in the field of facial aesthetics for over 10 years. This is an area of our practice which has grown significantly recently and we made the decision to dedicate more clinical time to this speciality. SkinActive Clinic offers aesthetic and corrective solutions for skin rejuvenation radiance, providing our clients with a professional and confidential service. Appointments can be tailored so that absolute privacy is guaranteed.
Skin is our largest living, breathing organ. Its health and wellbeing requires nurturing, starting at a young age. At SkinActive treatments and advanced skincare backed by science are available for all ages, all skin types, male and female. SkinActive will provide a hub for ancillary services that promote wellbeing. In 2018 SkinActive will be home to a visiting physiotherapist, podiatrist, dietitian, sports masseuse, phi brow expert and makeup artist.
Why did you start your own business?
As we have both been practising as dentists for over 30 years combined we felt we needed a new challenge which would channel our creative energies and employ our skills in a different way. We felt there was an opening for a clinician led facial aesthetic practice in the Omagh area, to carry out treatments at a medical grade standard
What is the best thing about running your own business?
Being our own boss means we can create our own skincare culture within a controlled clinical environment. It gives us the freedom and opportunity to develop the treatments and products that we are passionate about. We are delighted to be able to embark on this journey with our clients and make a difference in a positive way.
What are your main challenges?
Our biggest challenge is one which faces every new business owner and that is facing the risks and balancing our working and family life
What advice would you give to someone starting a new business?
Choose something you are passionate about and commit fully to it. Choose your business partner carefully, after all you will be spending a fair proportion of your time with them!
Do your research and take advice from everyone. We have been very lucky with the support and advice we have received from Omagh Enterprise Company for this new start up.
Can you describe your experience of running a business in three words or less?
Scary, exciting and satisfying
